Started with pain from my upper back all the way to my left arm since April last year, visit to the chiropractor 3 times a week, at home tens machine daily and massage gun, then MRI, evaluation with neurologist, started with steroids, prescribed by my doctor, anti inflammatories, pain meds, acupuncture, and succeed just by 15%, then I stopped all meds and I was accepting my faith to live with chronic pain, lastly I went to the orthopedic surgeon and the solution was epidural injections and schedule surgery in the nearly future, by doing that my career will be over. February I got a cross with this neck brace and reading all those incredible reviews I was skeptical at first becaus it didn't make sense something that simple will fix a chronic problem going on for almost a year but $20 it's nothing, decided to try it, sleep at night and use it as soon as I got home, first night was difficult because I never had a brace by the third day my pain went down to 50% and now I'm fully recovered...More

Hi my name is Karen and I just had spine surgery in the next area they had to put a plate from screws some cadaver bones in my neck, everything went wrong but my doctor is working on it and everything is working out good the reason I purchase the neck brace I have to wear it at night and my doctor gave me one but it falls apart I ordered your neck brace and thank you thank you this is the best for me to sleep in it's comfortable it's not choking me it keeps my neck straight and I can just go on I want to thank you so very much and if I need any more I will be coming back to you again my name is Karen and you have a lovely day...

I suffer from chronic neck pain, due to an accident that happened at a saw mill while I was working there. I just about had my arm ripped off, came close to losing four finger, and dang near got my neck broke (the doctors said it literally was a miracle that I even survived). I've had extreme pain since then, plus getting rear ended by a semi, that hit me three times at a red light (talk about some whiplash!) Which then caused my arms to go completely numb. My pain was then increased. The reason I mentioned all that is to express that I've had to struggle, suffer, and learn to live with the pain. I decided to look into a neck brace. (I also have a back brace and a shoulder brace.) I found this neck brace on . I got the extra support brace with mine. I slept with it the first night I got it (take off extra support piece). First of all I am 6'4" 250ish lbs. My neck measures 17 3/4". I bought the Enhanced X-Large 3.5 inch. I wish they offered in the enhanced model a 4". Reason being my neck is just long enough that the 3.5" height is a bit too short. It works just fine but I think the half an inch would be a bit better for me. As for the length I think I could have gone with the Large. I have to take up all the length with the velcro fastener to get it tight enough. For a better fit next time I would subtract an inch from your actual neck size and order that smaller size. Trying to sleep in this is a bit of a getting used to it ordeal. It isn't uncomfortable but having that new thing around your neck is a bit annoying. Kind of like getting used to wearing a wedding ring. Takes a few days to not fidget with it. It also makes it a little warmer than I like. Not bad but I sleep hot and this added insulation is a bit too much especially if your wife decides to bump up the heat after you go to bed while she st...More

The Pros are it is comfortable, it is soft yet gives great support, holds your head upright when you start to drift off in your recliner, comes with a slip on sleeve so you could wash it once your neck sweat stinks it up, and I personally think the $15 and change is a good price for this. I would recommend it to any person with Degenerative Disc Disease waiting for that day when insurance finally okays surgery.

Update: After I initially wrote this review in 2018, Vitavix has now introduced more height choices. Now the old Classic version is called the 'Comfort' version, and the old Plus version is now called the 'Enhanced' version. I'm here to try buying the Enhanced version to see if it works as a collar for sleeping when sitting up on a plane or car ride. I use the comfort version every night in bed for reducing sleep apnea and it is perfect for that, but it is not quite stiff enough to use as an airplane pillow, thus I will try the Enhanced. Original review: Be careful, there are several different models of Vitavix neck collars, there are two on this page (the Plus and the Classic) and a different Vitavix model (also blue) sold on a different page. I bought the blue VP0201 Classic. If you wanted a harder brace (e.g. to prevent movement), I think you would buy the the Plus (brown). I have tried several types of neck collars and some were a lot softer and some much firmer and all have different uses so it is important to know what you are ordering and what you need. I love that there are different circumference sizes to choose from, and you should measure your neck to choose which one will fit. Unfortunately, there are not different heights, I wish Vitavix would offer that. Based on the reviews for this collar and other collars that I looked at, people with the same neck circumference have a great variety of neck heights. Some say the collar is way too high, others say it is too short. If you don't get the proper height collar, it is just not going to work for you at all. I wear this while sleeping to help reduce sleep apnea episodes and it also seems to help reduce acid reflux during sleep. (If I'm having reflux, I have to really tighten up the collar to push on neck.) Even though I wear a full-face CPAP mask, without a cervical neck collar, my mouth opens and I think my tongue position causes apnea episodes. I am not comfortable wearing a chin strap (or taping my mouth as some people do) and this works much better for me. If I forget to wear my collar on a specific night, my CPAP machine statistics shows I have about 4-5 times more apnea or hypopnea episodes. The shape of this collar works a lot better than most cervical collars I've tried since my chin doesn't drop behind it. This collar is very well designed anatomically, the manufacturer simply needs to make more heights available to fit more people.
